The first email your family receives from Troop GA-4100 will likely contain an invitation to Trail Life Connect. Before you’ve attended a single meeting, before your son has earned his first patch — you’ll have access to the platform where the troop actually operates. That’s intentional.
Trail Life Connect isn’t a newsletter list or a scheduling app.
It is the central operating system for every Trail Life USA troop in the country, and it’s where your family’s experience in the program lives — from the first calendar sync to the final advancement award.

If you’re wondering what it is, what you can do inside it, or how GA-4100 uses it, here’s everything you need to know.
What Is Trail Life Connect?
Trail Life Connect — commonly called TLC — is the national troop management and family communication platform built specifically for Trail Life USA. Every troop in the country runs on it. Every registered family, Trailman, and adult leader has an account.
Think of it this way: this website is the public front door to Troop GA-4100.
Trail Life Connect is where the troop actually runs. The calendar, event RSVPs, advancement tracking, documents, group communication, and leader training all live inside TLC.
It is not optional, and it is not supplementary — it is the system of record for the program.
It is also designed with security in mind from the ground up. Access is invitation-only, which means the troop controls exactly who can see troop information, receive communications, and participate in group chat at any given time.
Trail Life USA’s youth protection model depends on leaders knowing who is in the system. When you receive a TLC invitation from GA-4100 leadership, it means the troop has intentionally extended that access to your family — not because you created an account, but because a leader opened the door.
This matters for families new to the program. You will not find a “sign up” button on Trail Life Connect. The platform is not publicly open. Enrollment in TLC is part of the decision to join or formally visit the troop — not a preliminary step you take before that decision is made.
What Can Families Do Inside Trail Life Connect?
Trail Life Connect is built around the full rhythm of troop life. Once your family has an account, you can use TLC to:

View and RSVP to all troop events. Every meeting, camping trip, outing, and special event is on the TLC calendar. Parents RSVP directly inside the platform, and leaders use those responses to plan and prepare. The calendar can also be subscribed to so events appear automatically alongside everything else on your phone.
Track your son’s advancement. TLC shows which branches, awards, and requirements your son has completed and what he is working toward next. You don’t have to guess where he stands — it’s updated by his leaders as he earns things.
Receive and read troop announcements. Leadership uses TLC to send messages to the full troop, to specific age groups, to registered adults only, or to adults serving in particular roles. Every message your son receives also goes to at least one parent. Nothing sent to a boy disappears into a blind inbox.

Access documents and forms. Medical forms, trip information, permission documents, and other resources are accessible inside TLC. GA-4100 also keeps some of this material on the troop website as a convenience, but TLC is the authoritative source.
Communicate through private group chat. The platform includes a secure, troop-only messaging environment. Leaders can open conversations around a specific event, within a single program level, or across the full troop — and parents can participate as well. This is not a public app or an open forum. It is a protected space the troop manages directly, with no access for anyone outside the enrolled troop community.
Stay connected to national Trail Life USA. TLC is also the connection point between GA-4100 and the broader national program — including access to official training, resources, and communications that flow from Trail Life USA to troops and families across the country.
The Trail Life Connect App vs. the Browser: What to Know
Trail Life Connect is accessible two ways: through any web browser at traillifeconnect.com and through the dedicated Trail Life Connect mobile app, available on both iOS and Android.
The app is the better choice for everyday use.
Calendar, announcements, event RSVPs, advancement summaries, and private group chat are all available and fast on mobile. Many parents add TLC to their home screen for one-tap access without a full app download — on iOS, navigate to the site in Safari and tap the share icon; on Android, tap the three-dot menu and select “Add to Home Screen.”
Troop leaders and volunteers also use the app to capture attendance at troop meetings and events. When you RSVP, this makes it easier on them.
The browser version offers more complete functionality, including access to Basecamp learning resources and full administrative tools for registered adults in leadership roles. If you are setting up your account for the first time, completing paperwork for a registered adult role, or navigating deeper into TLC’s features, start at the browser.
Most families use both — the app for day-to-day awareness, the browser when they need more.
How Families Get Access to Trail Life Connect
Access to Trail Life Connect follows a straightforward path: your family decides to visit or join Troop GA-4100, and our leaders send you an invitation to get set up in TLC from there.
The invitation arrives by email or text and contains a link to create your account. Once you log in, you complete your family profile and add your son to your household. Both of you then appear in the troop system, and you’ll begin receiving communications right away.
For families moving toward formal enrollment, the next steps — registering nationally through Trail Life USA and paying troop dues — also flow through Trail Life Connect. Adults interested in serving in a leadership role will complete their background check and the required Child Safety and Youth Protection training through TLC as well. Our leaders walk every family through the process and are always available to answer questions along the way.
One thing worth noting: Trail Life Connect access is not a preview tool or a way to explore the troop before deciding. It is the enrolled family’s home base. If you are still in the research and evaluation stage, this website — the About the Program page, the FAQ, and the contact form — is the right starting point. When you’re ready to take a real next step, we’d love to have you visit a meeting.
How GA-4100 Uses Trail Life Connect
Trail Life Connect is GA-4100’s primary communication platform. If something is happening in the troop, it flows through TLC.
Every meeting schedule, camping trip detail, event RSVP, and troop announcement is managed inside the platform. One of TLC’s most practical features for a troop our size is the ability to easily segment communication — a reminder can go to the full troop, or only to Woodlands Trail families, or only to registered adults, or only to those serving in a specific leadership role. That means families receive what’s relevant to them without being buried in information that doesn’t apply to their son’s age group or their own level of involvement.
When a family needs a medical form before a camping trip, they find it in TLC. When a leader needs to know who has RSVP’d for Saturday’s outing, it’s in TLC. When a parent wants to see where their son stands in his advancement, TLC shows them. When leaders want to communicate securely with one another about troop planning, TLC handles that too.
We also use Trail Life Connect alongside this website, not instead of it.
The public pages here — including Why Families Choose Our Troop and the program overview on About the Program — help prospective families understand who we are before they’re ready to visit. Trail Life Connect is where enrolled families experience the troop week to week. Both serve a purpose; neither replaces the other.

Inside Basecamp: Trail Life’s Learning and Development Platform
Basecamp is the learning and development section of Trail Life Connect. It is where both adults and boys come to grow in their understanding of the program, their roles, and their faith. Accessible directly from the TLC dashboard, Basecamp is organized around role-specific Learning Trails — each containing a series of Learning Treks that deliver training, resources, and best practices.
The Learning Trails in Basecamp are organized by who you are in the troop:
Parents and Guardians — Treks designed to help enrolled families understand the program, support their son’s advancement, and engage meaningfully with troop life.
Youth Trailmen — Learning content built for the boys themselves, covering program expectations, character development, and what it means to Walk Worthy.
Woodlands Trail Volunteers — Training for adults serving as leaders and helpers in the Woodlands Trail program (Kindergarten through 5th grade).
Navigator Volunteers — Role-specific equipping for adults leading boys in the Navigators program (6th through 8th grade).
Adventurer Volunteers — Leadership training for those serving alongside Adventurers (9th through 12th grade) as they take on greater responsibility and mentorship roles.

Troop Committee — Resources for members of the Troop Committee, who provide organizational support and accountability for the troop’s operations.
Support and Event Volunteers — Practical equipping for adults who support specific events and activities without holding ongoing leadership positions.
3 Peaks Training and Other Trainings — This trail includes the required Child Safety and Youth Protection training that every Registered Adult must complete, along with additional courses. The Youth Protection training lives here and must be renewed at least every two years.
Basecamp also includes a Backpack section — a curated set of the most important digital resources organized by role — and a Podcast section with audio content from Trail Life USA. The Home tab features a rotating monthly resource that changes regularly, so there is always something new to explore.
Frequently Asked Questions About Trail Life Connect
Trail Life Connect is the troop management and communication platform for all Trail Life USA troops. GA-4100 uses it for the troop calendar, event RSVPs, advancement tracking, parent and leader communication, document access, and training through Basecamp. It is the primary system through which the troop operates.
Yes. There is no separate cost to use Trail Life Connect as a parent or guardian. An account is included with your family’s enrollment in the troop.
Your first login comes through an invitation from troop leadership — either a text or email link. That link takes you to the account setup page to create a password and complete your profile. You will not be able to create an account without that invitation link. If you have not received one, reach out to us and we will get you set up.
Yes. Trail Life Connect supports a second adult on each household account. This is useful for ensuring both parents receive communications and can access the calendar. Contact your troop leadership about adding a second household member to your account.
Inside Trail Life Connect, navigate to the Calendar section and look for the iCalendar Feed option. That link lets you subscribe so troop events automatically appear in your phone’s calendar — Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, Outlook, and others all support this. Many families set this up on both parents’ phones.
Older boys in the Navigators and Adventurers programs may have their own login, which allows them to practice tracking their own advancement and staying current on announcements. For younger Trailmen in the Woodlands Trail program, the parent account is the primary point of access. Any message sent to your son’s account also copies at least one parent.
First, check your spam or junk folder and add the Trail Life USA sending address to your contacts. If emails are still not arriving, your TLC account may need to be checked for correct patrol assignment or email configuration. Contact our troop leadership directly and we can review your account settings.
